Here are some photos from our construction of our fairy hideaway.

I got my fairy door from my grandma, BZ (pronounced "B""Z"), at Christmas.

I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it.

I asked my mom and dad if we could make a fairy hideaway.  I had seen fairy doors in downtown Ann Arbor… They thought for a long time about it.  They said "yes".  Dad said we could put a hole in the drywall but not the trim.  So, we needed to figure out a way to make our fairy hideaway high on the wall.  So, my mom and I added steps to the door.  We made steps from wood from a whittling kit from Michaels.  My brother and I painted them green and brown so they would match the fairy door.

My mom used a drywall saw to make a hole into our basement storage area.  Our idea was that we could hang the fairy door in the basement and we could set up fairy scenes in the basement storage area.

Our first job was to install the door and the steps…

We found this little bird house at Meijer.

We used rocks and moss to decorate the steps to the fairy door.
